Happy New Year!

It is hard to believe that we are already headed into February. January has been a busy one for me (which is why this month's blog post is coming out so late). Oops! Anyways, as I have shared before, I am currently working towards my Masters in Curriculum Studies. I began this journey last spring and am currently working on my 7th and 8th course (out of 10), and am aiming to complete it by December of this year (if all goes to plan-fingers crossed!) One thing I really enjoy about this program is that many of the assignments and presentations we have to complete can be tailored around our interests. In the fall, I took a course on curriculum perspectives. Our final paper required us to choose a current issue or trend in the curriculum, and identify where early theorists' work was or was not seen. Play-based learning has been an interest of mine as of late, so naturally, I chose that for the topic of my paper. It had been a while since I wrote a formal paper, so it took some time to relearn how to properly format, cite, etc. After many hours of researching, writing, and editing I came out with a paper that I am quite proud of. I decided to share it for this month's blog post. So if you're interested in learning a bit more about the theories of Loris Malaguzzi (Reggio), Maria Montessori, and a few others and see where their work is used within a play-based curriculum (specifically Saskathewan's Kindergarten curriculum), feel free to read/skim the PDF below. I look forward to hearing any feedback from you!! As always, thank you so much for the support!
